  1. That cannot be true. WTVJ would have lost its mind to do a thing like that. They should have a chat with the person making these decisions. They are obviously trying to sink 6 further, if that is possible. Are they crazy. Julia is close to being one of the best there.

BTW, I like what you did the graphics.

  2. This is the worst move NBC could make. Not only is she a lovely person, very professional, but a nice human being.

Sometimes moves are made by management solely based on economics. I would like to think they take other things into consideration, ie longevity, professionalism, connecting with the market, and weigh it vs salary.

I believe a quality person who gets paid more may attract more audience than a cheaper newbie.

With her talent I know she will land on her feet. Its just too bad NBC doesn’t reward experience. NBC now stands for Nothing But Crap.

  3. Okay, First Martha, Than michael (not that he was that popular but he still has his friends) now Julia??? NBC6 would be stupid not to keep her. I like her on the CW News.

  4. I don’t know if this is true either. There has been no talk about this at the station. I think we woul dhave heard something. It is true though, she wasn’t at work today and I don’t think she is on vacation. Who is giving you this info?

  5. NBC6Producer.. That is a stupid question to ask. Why is the admin going to give you his source? And than you run and go tell somebody.

  6. How many decent people have to leave while Jackie Nespral is still employed? Is Don Browne still infatuated with her? All Julia has needed is a decent coanchor to pair her with. Ardy and Jackie need to go, soonest.

  7. Whats up with this station? Martha and now Julia.
These two ladies worked everyday, every shift on this station. What did either get for it. Stay in the market
and come back and kick their butts. Julia

  8. I agree they shouldnt have let her go (if this is true or not). But I dont think Jackie is as bad as everyone sets her out to be. There is a lot of Jackie bashing here and I just dont see the reason why.

  9. Phantasm,

Thats probably the problem, you dont see the “reason why.” Jackie Nespral is as redundant as “reason why.”

    NBC6Producer,

You seem to be a regular now. Be careful, you may be the next axed from 6. A do you really think you are going to get the source of info on the site?

I hope the Julia rumor isnt true though. If it is, I too hope she stay in the market and come back to haunt those idiots at WTVJ.

  10. Martha Sukalski was let go several months ago, and has since taken an anchor position at WESH 2 (Orlando, FL). Michael Williams and Guy Rawlings have been let go, with Guy to be reunited with his former NBC 6 collegue. A while back, rumors that Lonnie Quinn could be leaving NBC 6 for WCBS (New York City, NY). Now, rumors that Julia Yarbough could be NBC’s latest casualty.

To me, it would seem like NBC is wanting to make WTVJ its crown jewel of bad newscasts.

I believe the NBC-owned stations in New York, L.A., DFW, and D.C. currently have top-rated newscasts, or are trying to maintain ratings victory. I’m not exactly sure about other NBC-owned markets, like Chicago, Philly, San Francisco, San Diego, and Hartford-New Haven.

  11. I didn’t mean to say I wanted to know the source. I just don’t think this info is correct. Julia is on vacation right now. As for NBC stations having top rated newscasts, CBS wins in LA, NBC is not number 1. I don;t know about Dallas. NBC is not number one in New York. ABC is. I don;t now about Philly. Here’s the rundown of who’s gone at NBC6 for sure now or later:

    1) Martha Sugulski – WESH
    2) Guy Rawlings – WESH
    3) Lonnie Quinn – Last day in March – WCBS
    4) Michael Williams
    5) Julia Yarbough – unconfirmed
    6) Paul Deanno may have taken a pay cut – cut in half in order to stay.

    Did I miss any?

  12. Eric – I believe Martha left on her own to get a main anchor spot in O-town, which she shines in and so does WESH. Now with Guy Rawlngs joining, I bet WESH will make significant gains come February. But Guy and Martha were not fired – they got out before that happened. Mr. NBC producer – is Guy still working untill the end of the month or is he already gone?

  13. WCAU, NBC10 in Philly, finished 3rd at 11, and tied for second at 6 in Philly. kXAS in Dallas wins the mornings and 10, albeit barely in the last sweeps. WR in DC is still holding on to victory. What is clear is NBC stations do not have the same strength they once did.

  14. We bash Jackie because she is an empty suit. If I see one more video of her shlepping a handbag while her kids run around, I|’ll hurl. She and Kristi Krueger and all the incompetents who pass as journalists on their ability to spawn must go. She is as bad as Sally Fitz was.

  15. Jackie mus be doing something right. NBC 6 certainly likes her. You guys are just jealous. Good job Jackie. Congrats on the new solo gig!

  16. Jackie must be doing something right. NBC 6 certainly likes her. You guys are just jealous. Good job Jackie. Congrats on the new solo gig!

  17. Jackie is the essence of South Florida. Local girl who has payed her dues. Achieving national prominence by becoming the first hispanic anchor on a national show(Today Show). Returns home to raise family and has been “the” steady presence on NBC-6. She adds personality and is well respected by those who really know. So jump off people and start appreciating what you have instead of “playing program directors”.
