Anonymous emailer says that 7News have decided on what happens after Judge Judy ends its run with WSVN and moves to WPLG.
A half-hour 4pm newscast will be added, Geraldo At Large will air from 4:30pm to 5pm followed by the usual 5-to-7pm newscast.
When it was announced that 7 has agreed to cary Geraldo At Large, I took a shot at predicting that by keeping an option to move At Large from it’s current 12:30am slot WSVN will put it at 4:30pm instead when Judge Judy ends. Turns out I was right 100%. Congrats to me 😀
Thanks to the tipster that send me the news, you didn’t leave an email
how many hours and a half will be by then if they start w/ news @ 4pm?
Geraldo, what a joke, a f&*(ing joke. Think about it.
Is there anyword on who is going to be the Anchors?
When will this show start showing on WSVN??
that would be 8 hours of LIVE news, plus a half hour of Deco. Add in the fact that they rerun the news and Deco, and you technically have 9 hours of news, plus an hour of Deco, for a total of 10 hours of locally produced programming in a 24 hours period. Wow.
no …
5am-9am = 4hr
12pm – 1pm = 1hr
5pm – 7pm = 2hrs
10pm – 11:30pm = 1.5hrs
——————————-
8.5hrs
9 hours total with a half-hour at 4pm assuming Geraldo survives at which point if it doesn’t the 4pm becomes a 1 hour
I don’t think Deco /should/ count, and if you count it then you have to add the repeat of 7News at 10pm at 1am
WHDH has had a newscast from 4pm to 5pm for a while now
I think newscasts at 4pm and perhaps at 7pm should be explored, considering that at 5 most people here are stuck in traffic trying to get home.
Plus there’s more money to be made when they own the programming as then they charge for all the commercial time, as opposed to when running network shows which give them around 2 minutes (maybe more?) of ads per one hour.
I love the fact that the news is on so much, but who’s going to watch at 4:00?
And kudos to admin for being right… 🙂
whoops. i forgot to add the noon newscast. good save, admin!
You’d be surprised how popular our “7News First at 4” newscast has been here in Boston…. consistently a strong second behind Oprah on WCVB. CBS 4’s 4pm newscast is in a distant third (as usual).
