Thanks to the anon tipster who alerted me to this story.
The Palm Beach Post is reporting that WPLG reporter Julie Summers wanted to talk to some contractor guy about a faulty sidewalk in a Boca Raton community. He of course ignored her. So she, with the help of Boca Raton Police Chief Andrew Scott and a willing cop decided to pull the guy over one day so Julie and her cameraman can ambush the contractor and get him to talk.
It happened.
On August 30 around 11am the guy was follwed by a cop along with a WPLG crew, who drove an unmarked vechile. After the contractor drove thru a stop sign the cop pulled him over to write him a warning ticket and that’s when WPLG’s Julie Summers and her cameraman moved in. She got her interview, the contractor told her he was concerned about the sidewalk, but he says in the report it looked like there was more to the story than just a faulty sidewalk.
WPLG of course aren’t talking about it and nor is Julie Summers who didn’t return requests for comment from The Palm Beach Post.
Interestingly her bio on local10.com is gone. I don’t know yet if she was fired but if she was I’m sure we’ll learn about it soon enough.

WOW
This is funny, but something that I would expect from channel 7, just seems better suited to Rosh Lowe or Charles Billi.
Rosh and Charles are smarter than to get the cops involved and are good enough not to need their assistance. This is bush league stuff. I cannot comprehend at so many different levels how any reporter would think this might be a good idea.
summers is a nut case..
we call her crazy bread around here
crazy bread is right! they’re both idiots…i think the chief was lookin’ for a lil nookie from julie…and this is definitely ala rosh lowe style indeed….he’s the biggest moron of them all when it comes to getting a “story”…..
