I cought a bit of the begging of Deco Drive today and at the top of the show they had “Deco Drive Breaking News” making fun of Lynn Martinez lymping out of the newsplex. They said she dropped a lamp on her foot trying to save it from breaking hence why Belkys was filling in for her at 5:30pm and 6:30pm. It was sort of funny though, Lynn lymping out of the plex hodling to some woman I guess an employee at the station, and Belkys heckling her the whole time saying “Faker, poser, liar, cheater” jockingly of course.
They said she’ll be back anchoring Deco soon hopefully, but my guess is if it’s serious injury it will be a few days before she returns. I’ve crashed both my feet several times, much worse than dropping a lamp though and it is not fun having to walk around lymping you feel like your normal leg is about to give out from all the pressure.
That’s great! Do you have video to post? Was it a lamp at the station, or at home? Hope she’s okay.
was the grammar intentionally bad in this post?? 😉
well I was um … laying on the sofa, typing on the laptop. It was dark.
English is my 3rd lanugage. Bla bla
It’s a blog Don and no I don’t make my money writing 😀
Lynn’s accident happened in her office. She just said it on Deco Drive.
They all get separate offices? I thouhgt they worked on those computers which are apart of the news set.
The main anchors each have their own offices (Craig, Belkys, Lynn, Tom, etc.) where they have a their own phone and computer, so they can check their e-mail, get back to people and stuff. The people in the newsplex are the producers and writers who are actually gathering all the news stories and writing the script for the news.
So does Louis have his own since he is a main co-anchor of DD? What about the morning crew?
I’m not sure about Louis having his own office, DD does have its office apart from the plex. The ‘Today in Florida’ talent do not have offices, Richard, Diana, and Christine work from the plex (although Cruz does have a small office), with the writers and producers. All talent however do have tall lockers in the makeup room. Lynn, Belkys, Craig, and Tom have seperate offices.
Louis does have his own office. It’s the first one to the left, if memory serves me correctly.
louis’ office is upstairs in the “special projects” department…next to patrick fraser and marylin mitzel.
Lynn dropped the lamp on her foot at her house. She does not have an office at 7. She sits in the newplex with the writers and producers. The only reporters that have an office is the main anchors… Belkys and Craig. The rest of the anchors and reporters also sits in the plex
Hey ??? if you were to watch Deco Drive it showed Lynn Coming out of the news plex with her lymping.
I was the one who asked the question and now I am convinced none of you know what you’re talking about.
WSVNer, certain talent do have their own offices. Craig and Belkys have their own offices, across from the 7 Web Center, and by the satellite center. (If you were standing in the sat center looking straight ahead, about 15 feet away is the hallway with the offices). Belkys and Craig DO have their own offices, I reiterate. What is unclear from the confusion is who else has an office where. I know that in that hallway, there are more offices for more talent. Lynn and Tom’s office is in that hallway as well (as of 6/3/05). I know there are lockers in the make-up room (which, per the extremely large sign on the door, is “FOR TALENT ONLY”), like WSVN Insider said. The weather people all work together in the weather office, which is down the hallf from the makeup room. If you walk into the station, you’ll come into the lobby. In the lobby there’s a door, and if you go through it and to the right, there’s a hallway. The first door to the left is the weather office. Then to the right is the studio. The next door to the left is the Avid Suite which houses an Avid Symphony. Next on the left is the make-up room, and then after that the hallway opens up into an area that has the edit suites, the “Tape Center” (with it’s own illuminated sign, of course) with 8 Betacam SP Machines, and the “7 Web Center” in it’s own glass room in the middle. Probably too much information for one post, but oh well…I’m sure SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE found this all interesting…
If no one else, I did. Some years ago the weather office was on the far wall behind the old newsroom. The “Plex” was a prop room. The only things of interest near the front lobby were the cigarette, soda and food vending machines. I believe there was a bathroom there too and a water fountain.
There was a hallway which went behind the reception desk and to the right were the heavy studio doors. Straight ahead was the old newsroom. The studio comprised of 3 studio set area (one being the news set) another open rectangular syc and the third was an oddly shaped rounded wall used for very small sets.
So yes, your information is valued by some. Thanks.
david knows his stuff 🙂
(thanks, admin) One thing that some people might mistake is what actually goes on inside the building. Driving by, you’ll see a rather large building with (naturally) little 7 logos everywhere. The lobby is in the center of the building (ie, there’s half the building to your left, and half the building to your right). In my previous post, I said that when you pass through the lobby you make a right. Everything to the right is 7 News, and the other half of the building (to the left) they rent out as office space. (The front of the building faces east (the beach), so what you see from the 79th street causeway is the side that houses rented space.) Well, I guess I actually forgot, but passing the lobby you can go right (to 7 News), left (to the offices), or up. There’s a set of stairs right past the lobby that takes you upstairs. There to the right you’ll find a huge room for 3D graphics, and then across that another equally large room dedicated for 2D graphics. (While in the 3D room, I noticed a Chyron iNFiNiT! in a corner, in case anyone’s interested.) At the end of that hallway (with the graphics rooms) was a big door that we couldn’t go past, because that led to a hallway for the offices of the big dogs who we couldn’t go near. That hallway in turn led to another one which eventually meets up with the control room top of the newsplex, and another stairs that takes you back down (to the edit suites and web center, from my previous post.) Oh, and the little island where 7 News is on also used to house WIOD, but they moved and now no one is in that building, so 7 uses it for storage.
Wow…that’s tons of info…. My question is how much money do u think Shireen and Louie make since they’re only doing Deco. Can’t be to much. Actually, I don’t think Shireen has an office or anything like that.
Question to David:
Does the station have a sleeping quarters for when the “talent” needs to stay there aka hurricane time?
As far as I could see no. BUT I know that behind the video wall in the newsplex there’s something, so if there were a place to sleep, it would either be there or upstairs by the offices where I couldn’t go. Or maybe they just pull out a bunch of cots or airbeds or something and stick them wherever they have space.
Brap, braaaap, papapapapalap
