– WTVJ – nothing new that I saw. Will update later if I watch mroe of them
– WSVN – new lower thirds that match the rest of the Hurricane graphics package with a new bug on the right
– WPLG – nothing new that I saw. Will update later if I watch more of them

i will post some screen caps for anyone curious that wants to see, if I can fix my screen capture problems that is

Update: here’s some screen caps. I got some videos off the DVR and will post these later on

  1. What happened to WSVN? They have no weather talent so far this morning…the anchors are tripping over themselves when trying to deliver detailed weather information.

  2. I saw Tom Johnston (in place of Elita Loresca) doing a weather/hurricane segment during the 6 AM broadcast. Also interesting was that UPN 33 simulcast WFOR’s broadcast at 6 AM (instead of the usual Montell Williams show). I assume they had their regular newscast from 7-9 AM.

  3. Get over it, the vacation was planned for months–she’s nowhere near south florida right now. And if this is considered detrimental hurricane coverage to you, then this is going to be one long season. Give her a break, she’s one of seven’s biggest assets–far more more composed on-air than Tom

  4. Goodness, Anonymous. Fine, it has been planned for months…glad to have someone with inside info here. It doesn’t change the fact that most mets plan in advance to vacation outside of Hurricane season. It is mildly surprising that 7 ok’d her trip.

She has big assets alright, and it isn’t her meteorological prowess. Jackie Johnson falls into the same category. (at least Elita’s voice is more pleasing to the ear)

Frankly…I wish Bill Kamal could keep it in his pants. Ferro is good…but Kamal was 7’s best.

  5. Admin: Thanks so much for these caps and for your blog with all the videos! Great for those of us no longer residing in South Florida to say up to date!

  6. I have to disagree…..I think that WSVN’s hurricane graphics pkg is by far the nicest out of everyones! I don’t know what stations you guys are watching but maybe you should get your TV’s fixed. WFOR has a five second clip that just loops over and over. What can I say about WPLG’s…..it’s not even worth talking about. TJV doesn’t even make their own graphics, they get made in Texas where they don’t even know what a hurricane is.
And about Elita…Let the lady have a damn vacation!!!!!
PS: WPLG’s ripped 7’s sports xtra’s look off with the tube!!!

  7. who in TX makes WTVJ’s graphics?

And I agree on WSVN, their is a complete package music, open and lower thirds with split screens

  8. I believe TVJ’s gfx get made out of KXAS as part of some GE/NBC cost-cutting move. It’s the same reason a bunch of NBC-owned stations have their master controls based out of TVJ’s building.
