Thanks to an alert reader who tipped me to this.
Dade County Police Benevolent Association and Channel 10 are in a spat. In an article on the police pssociation’s site the General Counsel Blanca Greenwood accuses Wiensier of being biased against cops in his reporting citing a recent “Problem Solvers” segment in which Wiensier criticizes cops in Miami-Dade parking their cruisers illegaly to go to court.
In the article Greenwood calls Wiensier a problem maker and refers to him as ” the reporter with the annoying voice and overly dramatic intonations” and warns eveyrone not to talk to him because he likes to “get in people’s faces and antagonize them”.
After WPLG learned of the posting that prompted them to air an editorial responce which isn’t on their site yet but I am told WPLG said it’s their job to expose any wrongdoing no matter who does it and slammed the counsil for the tone of the article
Dade County General Counsel
Local Channel 10 Reporter Jeff Weinsier: Problem Maker
cops parked in front of fire hydrants? local 10 is the problem? go get em!
PBA: Do as we say, not as we do.
What kind of car does jeff drive?
The author of that article is silly. According to the article, “If cops don’t make it to court on time, they receive discipline AND the pending case might be dropped. Never mind that a real criminal might go free, that’s not juicy enough I guess.” You cant commit a crime with the excuse that you’re going to solve another. The fact is, some officers think they are above the law. Nice work Jeff. I didnt see it but sounds as if it was overdone though. Especially if it was really 10 minutes long.
Rule of Journalism: When it is a slow news day, pick on the police.
just watched it on lcoal10.com. it was under 5 minutes.
i just watched it too. It was hilarious. I would guess it was around 3:00 – 3:30… nowhere near 10 minutes.
I think a better story would be why doesnt queer eye for the straight guy remake Mayor Carlos Alvarez. I mean come on does this guy own anything other than a guayabera.I pitch in a dollar .
I agree. The mayor never wears a jacket & tie. I bet he eats at Taco Bell as well.
I know what you are saying, I am not a fan of the major, however, those tailored made guayaberas of his, costs a couple of hundred bucks. He is not cheap, though he is very boring and can not speak if his life depended on it.
Gee, I remember when Channel 10 used to do news stories and editorials about important things.
Well, it is no secret that all the cops in Miami-Dade County (Cities and County included) take advantage of the power granted to them by the public. They’re trying their hardest to create the same police-state mentality that prevails in the countries from which most of them come.
The PBA’s comments do nothing more than validate my opinion.
I think the mayor’s HOT!
the mayor hot?! what are you on??????
