Went to CBSNews.com and the big headline on the front page had video of Bryan Norcross giving the projected path and ladfall time for hurricane Rita. I thought it interesting that the lower third graphic stated he was a CBS News Hurricane Analyst. It seems CBS is integrating a lot of WFOR on the air during the hurricanes this season.
Even before and after Hurricane Katrina Brian Norcross was always on CBS “The Early Show” (I assume he was filling in for David Price). Since Hurricane Andrew CBS News has relied on WFOR because Brian Norcross has the experience. When Andrew hit the Miami stations stayed on the air, the New Orleans stations were struggling to stay on air. I think CBS is rebounding in all of their divisions, primarily because of its strong primetime. This helps CBS 4 because people don’t change their channels at 11.
Keep in mind WFOR is a CBS O&O. So technically that makes all of CBS4 Anchors part of the CBS News when needed. Since Brian was extremely popular for his newscast with Andrew, that made him stand out as a popular Meteorologist. So CBS has made him the official anaylist for CBS. Makes sense.
Other News Anchors at other CBS O&O’s have been known. One other anchor, former WBBM-TV anchor Bill Kurtis. He even left Chicago to go to New York for a while before going back to CBS2. Of course now he’s known as the voice for A&E’s investiagtion series.
I think Brian prays for a hurricane every night so he can have the same glory he had back in his Hurricane Andrew days on WTVJ. I personally don’t like him, and how he’s still trying to ride the Andrew wave. I prefer some of the other S.FL meterologists who stay away from the hype of hurricanes.
Buddy, get over yourself. During Andrew, Bryan Norcross saved lives. Bottom line. Saved lives.
Bryan didn’t do anything during Andrew that the other guys wouldn’t have done (had their stations stayed on the air).
I know he is a pervert, but I do miss Bill Kamal.
he’s old news. does he know what he’s talking about? yes.
will he re-capture what happened in 1992? no.
he drives the hype bus called WFOR.
everything out in the ocean is a possible category 6 storm, so stay tuned.
he needs to move on. and he’s not very good to his people. it takes the valet service and his producers to help unload his ego when he comes into work each day.
Apparently you people fail to remember when Andrew was long off-shore that Bryan was the only meterologist determined that Andrew was going to hit South Florida, and that he tried to convince other stations of this so they could warn people to get out or take cover. How quickly we all forget. But apparently the viewers don’t, because the numbers do not lie. And no, I DO NOT work at WFOR.
Let’s also not forget, Norcross has been weathering how many years? and he got Andrew right. What kind of batting average is that???
He took a chance a long time ago and declared before anyone else that Andrew was a-comin’. If he would have been wrong, he would have been the laughing stock of Miami. – or he would have changed his prognostication saying new data says ….
He was lucky. He is no better than any others. – and Yes he is at CBS disposal, being at an O&O.
Get bent.
yeah – he did what he did when he did it, but, at this time…c’mon. 2005. heck, last year, 2004…4 in FL. why wasn’t he the god of atlantic storms?
he wants 1992 all over again. he’s old news. he’s more hype than fact these days…imho
Norcross, Tony and Kelley where in a bunker the entire night of Andrew. I living in west kendall at the time, was able to see them with a battery operated tv and hear them on the radio. They called the hurricane play by play, where it was at, how the wind was blowing, where is was traveling next. They were answering questions and giving advice to MANY people that were scared. On the other hand several year later many called on a hurricane, Miami boarded up and by the evening everything reopened…ok at bit paraniod, but if you lived through Andrew, you can and will understand. I think he is an exception weather man that really knows the science.
Norcross isnt doing anything more than what the other meteorologists are doing these days. Might have been great during Andrew but now all the chiefs are pretty much up there. So for me, it comes down to who is watchable and Brian to me is boring with his boring striped ties with white shirt. I like Phil Ferro. HE dresses nicely and not bad to look at.
N E I L God !!
