They just ran this at the close of the 6pm newscast. Gary Freeman is a 7News engineer who’s been with the station for more than 30 years and passed away today from a long battle with cancer.
Gary Freeman was the best. Awsome to work with on the road. Could make anything happen. Always had a smile and kind word. He’ll be missed. He truely was 7News on the road. Everyone knew him and loved working with him.
Gary was the acme of dignity and class. He did everything the right way. He never cut corners and never accomplished something at another’s expense. He was responsible for so much of the Newplex’s success, particularly on the road, and he never got a shred of credit. I love him and will miss him dearly.

Gary was one of the nicest people at 7. A real gentleman who kept me laughing during some long days. Gary is missed by so many. RIP
