Shannon High-Bassalik, news director for WFOR and WBFS, has been named vice president of news operations for the South Florida television stations.
She rejoined WFOR-CBS 4 in January 1999.
High-Bassalik began her career at CBS 4 when it was known as WCIX. After serving as an intern in the late 1980s, she went on to work full-time at the station as an associate producer from 1988 to 1989.
She then moved to WBTV in Charlotte where she was a producer from 1990 to 1992.
She returned to South Florida in 1992 to work at WTVJ as producer of their 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts, before going to WSVN-Channel 7 as executive producer for the 5:30 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. She was hired as executive producer at KPRC in Houston in May 1995 and served in that capacity until May 1997, when she returned to WSVN as assistant news director.
While at WSVN, she helped oversee a staff of 250 people and direct seven hours of daily news programs.
WFOR-CBS 4, along with WBFS-UPN 33 and WTVX-TVX 34 West Palm Beach are part of the Viacom Television Stations Group.
