Rod Burks formerly from WNEM-CBS5 in Michigan is joining the 7Sports team soon. Don’t yet know what duties he’ll assume, maybe weekend reporting?
Hopefully they’ll let him play on TV often, he’s nice to look at 😉
Rod begins work at 7 sometimes in April
Bio from WNEM’s website
od joined the TV 5 Sports team in October 2002 as Weekend Anchor. He also reports 3 days a week.
He was born in Buffalo, New York and is (naturally) a Buffalo Bills fan.
A graduate of Columbia College in Chicago, the Windy City is where Rod’s broadcasting career began. He got his first big break covering a Chicago Bears game with his neighbor’s camcorder. Ironically enough, the opposing team was his hometown Buffalo Bills.
After an internship with NBC Chicago, Rod covered high school sports for AT&T Broadband. His next career move took him to FoxSportsNet, where he covered the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls and Bears.
Rod says he is “pumped” to be a part of the TV 5 Sports team. His passion for people makes covering high school sports a natural fit for him. He’ll be covering local high school and college sports, particularly Michigan and Michigan State — in addition to the major sports teams in Detroit — the Red Wings, Tigers, Lions and Pistons.
Rod lives in Saginaw Township and enjoys watching sports, reading about sports, reporting on sports and working out.
